Parramatta Road Apartments

8 Parramatta Road, Strathfield

Located on a prominent site at the major intersection of Parramatta Road and Leicester Avenue, Strathfield, this building celebrates the corner with a distinctive curved and patterned aluminium facade. The design is a response to its urban context and specific environmental design parameters.

The built forms step up towards the corner, marking the highest topographical point. The roof swoops up and wraps around the corner. The lower brick facade links to the height of the balconies on the adjoining site. The ground floor colonnade signifies this as a prominent corner site.

The curved aluminium facades shields corner apartments from noise and pollution. The brick facade contains winter gardens to shelter apartments from environmental impacts. Higher apartments open up to distant views.

Many dual aspect apartments provide cross ventilation and choice of aspect for occupants.

The yield is 80 apartments and 735sqm commercial space in a 9 storey building.

Designed in collaboration with Integrated Design Group, nearly all apartments are dual aspect. They overlook a leafy courtyard and offer relief from busy Parramatta Road, whilst capitalising on the northern aspect.

The top two storeys of the building are set back, reducing the impact of the building on the streetscape and mediating between the site and surrounding development.

OAA and IDG have prepared and submitted plans for DA.
